I've been playing guitar for over 16 years, as well as bass, along with experience in digital and analog recording, all of which I use to create music. Final Fantasy 6 (3 in Japan), Earthbound, Chrono Trigger and A Link to the Past have been the biggest influences concerning gaming music: I believe the was the turning point for music in games. Recently, I've found Bastion and Dungeons of Dredmor to be thoroughly invigorating concerning music in the indie gaming community. The main area of music I immerse myself in is progressive rock/jazz/fusion, especially the mid 60's to late 70s. Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake & Palmer are a few examples. The only other gernes I feel hold a candle to it is either folk/singer-songwriters (Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake, Laura Gibson, Loch Lomond) and melodic/thrash metal (Slayer, Devildriver, In Flames, Opeth, etc).
