Having graduated from The Art Institute of Dallas with a degree in Music & Video Production, My Xay Ly is highly skilled in creating soundtracks and musical landscapes that transports his listeners to a fantastic realm of immersive sounds combining orchestral & electronic music genres. With influences from composers like Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, John Tesh, Yanni, John Williams, Vince DiCola, Harold Faltermeyer, Alan Silvestri and Mannheim Steamroller, he brings a fresh palette of sounds and melodies that delivers epic sounding tracks for your project.

He goes by his middle name Xay, pronounced as "Sy". Since the turn of the millennium, he came up with an online alias for himself spelled XayberOptix. As the name suggests, Xayber sounds like the word "cyber" which translates to "virtual"; and Optix sounds like the word "optics" which has to do with "vision". So, one could say that XayberOptix means Virtual Visions. Everything he creates originates from within a virtual realm or otherwise a digital realm having to do with electronically generated media using computers.

His first electronic music workstation was comprised of an Apple IIe computer equipped with a Phasor sound card manufactured by Applied Engineering. He wrote his first pieces of electronic music at the age of 10. At age 15, he received a Commodore Amiga 500 computer which really fueled his music as this machine offered unsurpassed technology in audio and graphics. He later upgraded to an Amiga 3000 which he used to create his first musical album; and afterwards used it to record/mix his clients' musical albums.

Fast-forward to the present, with the advent of computer and audio technology, everything he needs for creating/producing music is now contained within his laptop computer. He has used many different DAWs in the past such as Cakewalk, FruityLoops Studio, Cubase, ProTools, Logic, Ableton, Acid, etc; but he finally settled on Reaper as it provides everything he needs in a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). His setup sports a full suite of VST/VSTi plugins from Voxengo, Native Instruments, Nexus 2, and many other "free" plugins. For mixing, he uses a pair of Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro, and a pair of d5 equator studio monitors run through a Creative Sound Blaster Omni Surround 5.1 USB Sound Card with a built in 600ohm Headphone Amp. For audio comparisons and playback, he uses a set of KRK Rokit 6 with a KRK 10 sub.

All this seems pretty basic, right? Well, it is! However, the magic all happens when the creative juices start flowing from his visionary sound ideas laid onto digital tracks comprised of MIDI notes that trigger a world of meticulously crafted sounds from synths and samples stored inside his laptop. With this in mind, he is always ready to make music that is on point with any project whether it is a film, game or tv series.
