Q. Who are you?
A. I'm Devin Smith (a.k.a. Bottled Sky) and I produce electronic tracks (particularly synthpop) as a hobby. I'm also an avid gamer who regularly listens to game soundtracks.
Q. What kind of work can I expect from you?
A. Many classic tracks from the 8-bit and 16-bit era are memorable because of their strong melodies, and I generally like to create melodic tracks of a similar vein. My preferred genres are synthpop, synthrock, and EDM, but I also dabble in slower, more ambient fare. Bear in mind, I don't make chiptunes.
Q. What instruments do you use?
A. As a synthpop musician, I use a keyboard, drum machine, and a MIDI sequencer. Also, I often incorporate MIDI guitar and piano into my tracks.
Q. Which video game OSTs are most similar to your output?
A. Capcom soundtracks like Mega Man and Ace Attorney are not far off, and I'd say the same for Nintendo's F-Zero series. Such games take cues from rock music in their synth-laden OSTs, which is more or less what I do.
